Default Can I assign a text style to a table style?

I'm using Word 2002. I've created some new table styles and want them to
include a certain text style as well. I am not finding that option. Right
now, I am inserting a table, then applying my table style, then applying the
text style. Can I make this just one step?

Hi Mary

I think the short answer is no. I, too, would prefer to define a table style
in terms of paragraph styles. But it can't be done.

Hope this helps.

But in the "Modify Style" dialogue box where you define a Table style,
there are font formatting controls -
what do these do? They don't seem to work to apply any text formatting?!

Here is a trick for new tables:
Before inserting a table assign your table text style to a paragraph where
you placed you cursor for inserting a new table; and then insert table,
assign table style (make sure you dont define font characteristics when
creating table style so it can use the defaults)

There is a strange connection between the Normal style and the text
formatting applied by table styles, which means that if you've modified
Normal, that will override the font settings of the table style.
