How do I re-enable commands on the ribbon.
Someone gave me a document that will not allow me to modify certain parts of
the document. I want to change the headings, footers, and turn-off change tracking but all of those command buttons are disabled. I can remove the headers and footers but I cannot change them. Can someone offer some insight as to how I might do this? Thanks for your help. |

It sounds like the document has been protected from those kinds of edits. If
the "owner" is using permissions or set a password, then you might not be able to do what you're trying to do. In the Developer tab, click Protect Document - Restrict Formatting and Editing. At the bottom of the panel, click Stop Protection. If it lets you, cool. If not, then you'll have to negotiate with the document owner. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Hal in NY" Hal in wrote in message ...
