Default Word's Document Map should detect headings in tables

Many of my documents use banner headings formtted as table cells, which are
very useful for laying out complex headings especially those that include
graphics, background colours and hyperlinks.
Unfortunately this renders the Document Map useless.
Is there a way around the problem?

You might consider other formatting options. If you could share what version
of Word is being used, someone might have a more specific option to offer.
Consider banner headings formatted as picture objects, experiment with
simplifying as much as possible, to determine the end-results.
