Default Styles Created by Word

In Word 2007 I have a document with several custom styles. One of them
is called "Agr Para," which is based on Normal and which has several
other attributes such as justified. Whenever I modify an instance of
the style (for example, increase the font size) Word creates, on the
fly, a new style called "Agr Para + 14pt". Is there a way to keep Word
from doing this? Thanks,

Ross

Go to Office button Word Options Advanced, in the Editing Options group, and
uncheck "Keep track of formatting".

It actually isn't a style. Styles have symbols at the right margin of the
styles pane such as ¶, ¶a, and a. What you are seeing is the formatting you
have applied top your styles. If you don't want to see it, in the the style
pane options dialog clear the select formatting section checkboxes.

(See
