Perhaps you meant "papi" or papy"? "pimpi" is not French.
Also French "papi" or papy" both mean "granddad/granddaddy/grandpa", not
"daddy".
The French use "papa" for "daddy".

None of my English or French dictionaries give ´pimpiˇ as a valid word.
Googling for it gives tons of unrelated results, including a FaceBook
entry. It seems some kind of nickname people use all over the world. But
still nothing to do with French for ´daddyˇ.

Or is there some kind of joke (pun on words) behind ´pimpiˇ that I am
missing?

Could you elaborate or is it rude? Something to do with "pimping" by any
chance?
