Default endnotes appearing twice

I have a document where I am using endnotes to list references. They are set
up to appear at the end of each section, as I have an appendix that has it's
own references.

The references are fine for the first section, but for the appendix, the
first reference appears at the end of the references for the section before
as well as at the end of its own section.

If I delete it, the next reference appears there instead.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The document might be corrupt. Try the following: Copy the whole document,
except for the final paragraph mark (ΒΆ), into a new document. Does that fix
things?

To show/hide paragraph marks as well as other nonprinting marks, press
Ctrl+Shift+8.
