Default Losing Formatting

Here's the problem. I create a document. I save it. Later, I navigate to the
folder where it was saved, and pull it up. The document has lost all of it's
format. It shows default font. Paragraphing is gone. Bold is gone. At the
bottom is the coding that I used to see with Word Perfect back in ancient
times. Hundreds of documents are de-formatted. p

But I just discovered something strange. If I go to File, and pull up the
document in the recent file list, it comes up with perfect formatting, just
like I created it. Does anyone know what's going on? I have a Mac, Safari
system. The program is Word X. The problem started a couple of weeks ago.

Default Losing Formatting

Go to File--Open. Change the "Files of type" from "Recover text..." to
"Word document..."

Hope it helps!

Thank you so much, Anne! We were thinking that our files were corrupt, or
that we needed a new Word version. You've saved the day! Thanks! Jan
