Table Borders in Word 2000
I am trying to change the default table format for Word 2000 so that there
are no borders (not gridlines) around a new table. I don't seem to be able to do this. I searched this database and found a suggestion which involved: Selecting the Table | Autoformat Table commands, then Selecting the TableNormal format, then Clicking the Default button. When I try this, however, those options are not available; there doesn't seem to be a "default" button in this area. Is it possible to remove the default borders from tables in Word 2000, and if so, how? Any help is greatlty appreciated. -- LPS |

Table Borders in Word 2000
It may be that this is not possible in Word 2000. As a fallback, Ctrl+Alt+U
will remove borders from tables inserted with them. What you might try is to open Normal.dot and select TableNormal there. Don't know if that would apply to future tables, though, or only existing ones (of which there would be none). -- Suzanne S. Thank you Suzanne. As we are on a controlled network and locked-down desktop
we cannot access the template directory. I will try the keyboard solution. Thank you for your help. -- LPS "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: It may be that this is not possible in Word 2000. If you don't have access to Normal.dot (meaning that you don't have Save
permission), you probably wouldn't be able to change the default then, anyway. But note that best practice is for each user to have a personal copy of Normal.dot that can be customized; see €śYou cannot share the Normal.dot file among multiple users in Word€ť at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811468 -- Suzanne S. Hi all

What you might try is to open Normal.dot and select TableNormal there. TableNormal, as in, a table style? [That would not be present in Word 2000, so I'm sure you are meaning something else.] Anyway, the good old empty table AutoText might be a workaround for LPS. 0.2¢ Robert -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | MS \ / | MVP X Against HTML | for / \ in e-mail & news | Word |

In Word 2000, you can, I believe, select a default Table AutoFormat. They
became "table styles" in Word 2002. -- Suzanne S.
