Wrong characters converting from WP to Word
Yesterday I was sent a WordPerfect document to save as a Word document.
After doing so I checked it and all the words and numbers appeared perfect on my screen. When I emailed it to the person making the request, she was unable to see the same thing onscreen as I did. Her computer showed tiny squares (I'm sure there's another word for them) in place of some of the words. Is there a way that I can prevent this from happening in the future; or is there something she could do to adjust her equipment? Thanks for the thousandth (seems like it) time! |

What more often happens is that quotes and dashes are rendered as A's or
equals signs. This results from WordPerfect's use of the WP Typographic Symbols font for these characters (instead of the glyphs that are present in most ANSI fonts). If that font is not installed, you will not see the correct symbols. If the font *is* installed, your only clue may be that possessives or contractions are marked as misspelled because Word does not recognize the apostrophe as an apostrophe. The only solution in such cases is to replace the characters with the correct ones. I'm not sure whether that's what's going on here or not, but it might be part of the problem. -- Suzanne S. Thanks so much, Suzanne for your always helpful advice. Now I know where to
start to solve the problem! "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: What more often happens is that quotes and dashes are rendered as A's or equals signs.
