Default How do I remove a tab arrow from a word document?

Every time I press the tab button in a Word document the text moves to the
appropriate tab stop, but a visible arrow is also inserted. How do I get rid
of this? Thank-you.

From the Tools menu, select Options and then go to the View tab and uncheck
the "Tab characters" item in the "Formatting marks" section of the dialog.
