I am trying to use the Outline Numbered list and it is not working.
I choose format, bullets and numbering
Click on the Outline numbered tab
click the first style to the right of None
click OK
1) shows and I type something then press enter and 2) shows. I then press
tab to create a lower-level entry and it doesn't happen the 2) stays and the
insertion point tabs.

Is there a setting not correct. I tried it on another computer and it works
fine.

Please help!

depending on your version of Word:

Tools Options Edit Tabs and backspace set left indent

or

Tools Autocorrect Options AutoFormat as you Type Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces
