Default Outline skipping numbers 6.1 to 6.4

I am trying to fix the outline in a Word document where there are several locations where parts of the outline are being skipped when the outline is generated by the software. For example, 6.0 is followed by 6.5, and I haven't been able to get 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4 to show. This is not happening before 6.0, but continues to happen for 7.0, 8.0, and 9.0. Help!

Is it possible that you have some Heading 2's formatted as Hidden Text?

Or perhaps at some point you set the Numbering to start from some figure,
rather than continue the list?

As Peter suggested, look for hidden text. If you click the ¶ button (on the
Home tab of Word 2007-2013 or on the Standard toolbar of Word 97-2003) you
should see any hidden text with a dotted underline.

If you don't see any hidden text, try resetting the paragraph formatting,
including numbering, on the affected paragraphs by selecting the paragraphs
and pressing Ctrl+Q.

Does any of this help? Please post back with the results.
