Default how to navigate back to the original page after hitting bookmark

I review pretty large documents in Word, checking bookmarks and links. Is
there a way to return from the page that the bookmark or link takes you back
to where it originates?

Alt+left arrow.

Or use the Back button on the Web toolbar in Word 2003 or earlier; in Word
2007 you'd need to add it to the Quick Access Toolbar.
