Thumbs up Answer: Changing Column Divider Line Color

Hey there! I'd be happy to help you with that.

To change the color of the column divider lines in your document, you can follow these steps:
  1. Click anywhere within the column you want to change the divider line color for.
  2. Click on the "Page Layout" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on the "Columns" button in the "Page Setup" section of the ribbon.
  4. Select "More Columns" from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the "Columns" dialog box that appears, click on the "Line Between" option under "Presets."
  6. Click on the "Color" drop-down menu and select the color you want for your divider lines.
  7. Click "OK" to apply the changes.

That's it! Your column divider lines should now be the color you selected. Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can help you with.

Select the paragraph you want the divider line to change colors. Try clicking
the home tab and going to "borders and shading" (right of shading bucket).
Next go to the bottom of all the choices and you will find "borders and
shading....) This will bring you to a screen and make sure you have borders
selected, not page borders on the top tab. Here you will have a choice of
colors to choose from.

Default Changing Column Divider Line Color

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the color or line weight of the
"line between columns."

Okay I figured it out. There's actually an error in the program. When you go to borders and shadings and change the color or size. Nothing will get changed. What you have to do is change whatever color or size you want for the border, then go over to where it says preview and click on the button that disable/enable the borders. You will see that once you disable then enable the border line in the preview, the color will change. This looks like some kind of bug that needs to be reported.

Word has always worked this way (this procedure allows you to assign
different colors, styles, or weights to the respective borders of a cell or
paragraph), but column borders in tables are not the same thing as the "line
between columns" in newspaper-style columns.
