How do I re-enable macros?
I had disabled macros to try to fix a bug where pasting in selected
html from web pages (just about any) was crashing Word, or worse, the computer. (The system is normally very stable.) Disabling macros had no effect on the problem. I went to try to re-enable macros, and I can't find where to do that. Tools - Macros - Security - Low doesn't work. Trusted Resources in the same as ever. I know I did something other than setting macro security to high to stop the macros from running, but I can't remember what I did now. If I select a macro (key shortcut) I was previously using I get an error screen "Macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to [help] to renable macros." 'Help' and online help tell you to change the security and how to add trusted resources. Any help appreciated. (Also, any ideas on how to keep Word from crashing when (50%+) I try to paste in html?) |

Okay, well Word is now magically (inexplicably) asking me if I want to enable macros when I start Word. I said 'Enable.' Now how do get it to STOP asking me that again every (!@#) time I restart Word? Thanks |

How do I re-enable macros?
Hi lisa_n,
One possibility for the message appearing each time you start Word ... You might have a template containing macros in your OFFICE startup folder. If you have and your security setting is medium I believe you would get that behaviour. The OFFICE startup folder is (by default) not the same as the one pointed to in Word's Tools/Options/File locations/Startup; it's the one in the Office installation path. On my PC it's "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2003 Professional\OFFICE11\STARTUP". Also, when you get the message you may be able to see the path to the template it's complaining about displayed near the top of the enable/disable dialog (at least I seem to get this with Word 2003). Regards. Ed " wrote: On May 7, 7:20 pm, wrote: I had disabled macros to try to fix a bug where pasting in selected html from web pages (just about any) was crashing Word, or worse, the computer.
