Default How can I stop old text appearing in a 'new' document?

I wrote a letter in word a year ago and am still seeing that same letter
every time I open a 'new' document. I have tried deleting it and saving as a
new document but it hasn't worked. There seems to be no way to remove this
echo of the past!
