Dual page numbers
Is it possible to create 2 different sets of page numbers (each with
different formatting and numbering) on each page in a Word document. (This is for an appendix that should retain the original document's page numbering but also show the final/big document's page numbering in a footer.) |

Dual page numbers
See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=190550 "WD: How to Create
Two-Page Numbering Schemes in One Document". You'll need to insert a next-page section break between the main document and the appendix, turn off "same as previous" in the header and footer of the appendix section, and then modify the page numbering. Dual page numbers
Does it strike anyone else that the title of this article should be "Two
Page-Numbering Schemes" rather than "Two-Page Numbering Schemes"? -- Suzanne S. Dual page numbers
If anybody searching the Discussions wants to know how I did it:
1) Do not mess with the original header(s)/footer(s) that contain the main document's page numbering; let them continue into and through the Appendix. This will retain the overall page numbering for the entire document. 2) Insert a section break between the main document and the Appendix. Be sure to turn off "same as previous" in the header(s)/footer(s) of the new Appendix section. This will retain the overall page numbering for the entire document but allow you to insert new info/text without it appearing in the previous section. 2a) Insert a section break between each unique part of the Appendix (for me there were only two, the TOC and main body). Again, be sure to turn off "same as previous" in the header(s)/footer(s) of each Appendix section. 3) Insert a Bookmark at the start of each unique part of the Appendix. For me, it was a TOC (Bookmark AppendixA1) and main body (Bookmark AppendixA2). 4) Using the Ctrl-F9 combo, insert fields into the header(s)/footer(s). There seem to be many variations but I used a combination of Page, Bookmark, and PageRef fields. 4a) For the Appendix TOC (which had roman numberals): { = { Page } - {PageRef AppendixA1 \* MERGEFORMAT } \*roman } 4b) For the Appendix main body: { = { Page } - {PageRef AppendixA2 \* MERGEFORMAT } + 1} "JayWomack" wrote: Is it possible to create 2 different sets of page numbers (each with different formatting and numbering) on each page in a Word document.
