Word 2003 - can't get rid of 'Design Mode' button
Every time I open one particular Word document, which is basically a two
column table, I see a small button down at the bottom right of the doc and outside it. View mode is 'Print Layout' at 75%, and the button is sitting on the gray background outside the edge of the page. When I mouse over the button I see the caption "Exit Design Mode". If I click its X, it closes, but it'll reappear the next time I open the doc (and only this doc - it doesn't happen with any other). I've tried fiddling with controls but nothing I do gets permanently rid of the button. Shutting it then closing and restarting the doc just brings it back. Advice would be appreciated. |

Is this a form in which you have used tools from the control toolbox? These
tools are not intended for protected forms. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org scribulations wrote: Every time I open one particular Word document, which is basically a two column table, I see a small button down at the bottom right of the doc and outside it. You may see this if the document has any controls from the control toolbox
(as Graham Mentions), but also if there are any macros under "This Document". To check the latter, open the Visual Basic Editor, look for the name of the document in the list of "Projects" near the top left, and click the + to the left of the document name , then the + to the left of "Microsoft Word Object"s. You should see "ThisDocument". Double-cllcik on that. If there's anything in there, that's probably the reason you are seeing this button. Word 2003 - can't get rid of 'Design Mode' button
Sorry to be a while getting back - I couldn't find my way back here.
If I included any tools from the 'Control Toolbox', it certainly wasn't intentional, as I don't even know where this toolbox is. Peter, I can check your suggestion about the Visual Basic Editor but..um..where is it, please? Dunno if this fills in any blanks, but I routinely use (in my normally simple and UN-complicated Word deployment) two macros. I create a lot of tables in Word, (hi-tech stuff like shopping lists and DVD collections) and I made one macro that inserts a line, and another that deletes a line. But they're there in the background of all docs that I create, and I've never seen the 'design mode' thingo in any other document. There must be something that I inadvertently clicked that I don't usually touch. Now, if I can just build a decent signpost, maybe I'll be able to find my way back here....:-) |

Word Tools|Macro|Visual Basic Editor
There must be something that I inadvertently clicked that I don't usually touch. Always possible but there may well be other causes I'm not aware of. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "scribulations" wrote in message ...
