Default linked excel in black/white

I copied an Excel file into word using paste special, linked Excel document.
The Excel document is now embedded is Word and appears just fine. Colors,
formulas, borders, everything is there. However, it prints only in black and
white. The only way I can get it in color is to click on the table and break
the link to excel, but that defeats the purpose. I know its not a printer
issue, as other things I type in the Word document print in color just fine.
Only the table remains b&w.

Most likely a setting in Excel. On the Sheet tab of Page Setup in Excel,
make sure you don't have "Black and white" checked.

We do not have the Excel tab marked for black and white. In fact, you can
print the excel document and it comes out in color. Its just when you print
the Word document that the embedded Excel portion appears in black and white.
