Default savings a document

new to the use of MS Office 2007. Trying to saving a document in word and
its saving as .docx. What does the 'x' represent. Can't open the document
on another pc that I sent it to

Default savings a document

Change the Save As to Word 97-2003 format. The .docx is the new format and
to read it on your other computer, you would need to download the free
compatibility pack.
