Default mail merge - length of merged fields cut off

I know how to merge and have had no problems in the past, but we have
recently moved to word 2007 and it is cutting off the length of some of my
merged fields to 255 characters! How do I extend this. I want it to be
around 1000 :-)

What type of data source are you using? Excel? Access?

If it's Excel you could be seeing the problem described at

(Incidentally, which version of Word were you using before?)
