Default WORD 2007 CUSTOM BORDERS NOT "PDF-FRIENDLY"

I am using custom tables for a complex page layout. Different cells in
different rows and columns have different paragaraph formatting, some of
which require paragraph borders (like a bar-parenthesis e.g. | some subject |
some info. | etc. |).
However, once I "Save As PDF", then open the PDF reader to review my page, I
find borders with different weight (thickness) than originally specified in
WORD 2007.
