Default Using option buttons in Word form

I created a form and wanted option/radio buttons, so, I took them off the web
toolbar. Now, everytime I open the form, the Web Design Mode button opens,
rendering the option buttons useless unless the Design Mode is exited. Is
there a way to not have that happen so that I can send the form out to be
used without telling them they have to exit design mode each time? Thanks so
much for your help!!

I had tried that. It locked the form, but, when the document is reopened, it
still opens the Design Mode button in the bottom of the screen, only this
time it's grayed out because the document is protected. I'm wondering if
it's not possible to use radio buttons in a word doc - only in a web doc.

Try opening the forms toolbar and clicking the icon that looks like a lock,
then save your document. That should work.
