Default change columns to full page format

I have scanned into Word an article in a column format. How can I convert it
into a full page format?

Switch to "print layout" view. Select the column text, click Format-Columns,
under Presets choose "One Column."

Do you mean you did OCR to the original, so you have a Word text file?

(If what you have is a graphics file, you can't do anything with it in
Word.)

Your OCR application likely has a setting for "Preserve format?" or
something similar. Assuming it understands that the columns are to be
read sequentially, choose "No" for that option.

(I used to have an OCR program where you had to drag text boxes around
the parts of the preview page to tell it what order to scan in, but if
a page has a simple two- or three-column format, maybe it does that
all by itself these days.)

Change single column to full page document in word.
Used to save newspaper or magazine article as full page.

Copy the article, then cut the multiple column article into single columns. Tape each column onto the center of separate blank sheet of paper. Scan pages with an OCR program to word document if you want to edit. I used Abbyy Fine Reader 6.0. This is a good idea, as the scan will produce some errors in text, spacing etc. You will have multiple pages. Open the scanned pages in Word. At Word home page, choose the “View” tab at the top toolbar, then select “Full Screen Reading”. The columns will now merge into a full page document for reading. You can only read the document here, you cannot print or save. If you print here, even though it appears as a full page, the print output will still be a single column. You need to highlight each individual full page you are viewing (you can’t do them all at once) then copy and paste to a blank word document which will give you a full page continuous document to save or print.
