Default Rearrange rows in Word 2007

In previous versions of Word I used to be able to select one or more rows (by
clicking on left margin) and use the mouse to drag them up or down to a
different location in the table. Similarly I used to be able to cut a row and
paste it back at a different location.

This no longer works in Word 2007. Whenever I drag a row to a different
location, it appears to cause the table to be split. I tried dragging the
symbol at the end of the row, but that just caused the row to be appended to
the end of the row I moved it to.

Since I work with a lot of table data, this is really preventing me from
working quickly.

Does anybody know how I move my rows around in Word 2007 (I did find out
about the Alt+Shift+arrows, but I want to do this with the mouse).

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Danc,
That is not normal behaviour. Everything should be as it was in Word 2003.
First check this, Office-button - Word options - Advanced - edit options -
is there a check next to allow drag and drop ot text.
What happens if you select the row and press ALT+Shift+arrow up key, does
that still moves the row?

Luc,

Thanks for your response. Sorry for the delayed reply but I just noticed it.

There is a check mark next to Allow text to be dragged and dropped. Without
this setting I can only select text but not move it.

Yes, ALT+SHIFT+Arrow Up does move the row. However it is tedious.

I just tried an experiment and found out the circumstances where this happens:

1) Document must saved in compatibility mode (saved as Word 97-2003 document)
2) Then apply one of the table styles to the table
3) Try dragging a row to another row breaks the table
4) Undo the drag and save as a native style
5) Drag and drop works fine

Looks like a bug between compatibility mode and table styles. Any
suggestions/thoughts?

Regards,

Dan
