Default My "Same as Previous" and other Header/Footer buttons are gone!

Help! My Header and Footer toolbars have disappeared. I no longer have a
"Same as Previous" and "Link to Previous" buttons to press, which means I
can't have different footers for different sections.

Anyone know how this might have happened? View Header and Footer gets me to
the Footer, but the buttons are gone. I tried looking for a Header and
Footer toolbar that might be turned off, but can't find it.

While your cursor is in a header or footer, click Tools Customize.
Go to the Toolbars tab of the dialog and make sure there's a checkmark
next to "Header and Footer". (This item isn't even in the list if the
cursor isn't in a header or footer.)

If that doesn't do it, try this. With the cursor still in the
header/footer area, press Alt+F11 to open the macro editor. Press
Ctrl+G to open the Immediate window, and paste in this line and press
Enter:

Application.CommandBars("Header and Footer").Visible = True

Which version of Word are you using? That may very well make a difference &
is always good info to provide.

The H/F toolbar is one that cannot be summoned *or* dismissed - it is
totally contextual. Are you sure it isn't on screen somewhere... Docked in
an unusual location, perhaps? While you are in the H/F layer go to ViewH/F,
then go to ToolsCustomizeToolbars & you should see that there is a check
check the box which can't be removed. However, you can click on its name,
then click the Reset button, which may help. You might also try the Help
MenuDetect & Repair feature if the Reset idea doesn't work.

See ( http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm ) for more
severe issues involving the registry.
