Default style guide issues

Hello - anyone who could offer a solution -
I am an inhouse training person, I have now been tasked with writing
materials, I want to combine some paragraphs from one booklette to another
booklette and into my main document to teach from.

I spent the time to build a new document and set up my formatting perfectly
- I had all of the styles I needed and or wanted. - But as soon as I copy a
paragraph from another document or source - it brings in its own formatting.
is there a way to bring in the information without bringing in the other
formatting and or styles.

Thanks
