Default Uninstall Office 97

Have a problem with Word 97, can't correct..... SOOOOOOO I want to uninstall
and reinstall it (Office Professional 97)...

If I uninstall will all my word files (.doc files) stay on the computer or
do I have to move them (ugh) to another hard drive???
