Default How do I save a template to a word doc?

Hopefully this has a simple answer, but when I create a template and modify
it I would like to save it as a word doc. instead of another template. When
I go to save as I am only given the option of saving it as a template.

You don't save a template as a doc; that's not the way they work. Put the
template in a templates folder and access it via File | New or, in an
Explorer window, double-click on it. Either action will create a new
document based on the template. See

Templates *cannot* be saved as docs. Their "internal structure" is not the
same. By the same token, there really is no reason to do so.

If the actual problem is that you are trying to create a new doc file by way
of an existing template, you shouldn't be *opening* the template file in the
first place. Assuming your template is stored in the "appropriate" location,
use FileNew, then click "On My Computer" in the Templates section of the
Task Pane to create a new doc based on the template you select in the
Templates window. The new .doc will be generated as "TemplateName1" until
you save it with a name of its own.

The only reason to open the .dot, itself, is if you *do* want to edit it or
generate a new .dot that incorporates the changes.
