Restart numbering on a list
I am not sure that I am using the right procedure to get lists to restart
numbering. To restart numbering, I select "Set numbering value." It defaults to start a new list but indicates a number continuing from previous list. When I reset that value to 1, it wants to reformat my paragraph style which changes the margins I set. What am I doing wrong? |

Restart numbering on a list
From your description, it does sound as if you are doing this correctly.
When prompted, what happens if you choose not to reformat the paragraph style? Also, make sure to clear the "Automatically update document styles" option in the Templates and Add-Ins dialog box (if it is currently selected). -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Susan" wrote in message ... Restart numbering on a list
If I don't update style, the numbering doesn't change.
I have tried what appears to be the quicker way: right click on list and select Restart at 1. But again, when I do it, it changes the paragraph hanging value from .35 to .25. I do have auto update off. "Stefan Blom" wrote: From your description, it does sound as if you are doing this correctly. When prompted, what happens if you choose not to reformat the paragraph style? Restart numbering on a list
Maybe we need to take a step back here... Which version of Word are you
using? How did you set up numbering in the first place? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Susan" wrote in message ... If I don't update style, the numbering doesn't change.
