Default When pasting picture in Word, it pastes the frame, and no content

I try to paste a jpeg picture into a Word document, as I did it for years.
All a sudden, I only get the frame of the picture, and not the picture
itself. I reinstalled Office, with no avail.
When pasting into an email via Outlook, it works perfectly. Hence there must
be an adjustment in Word, which I cannot find.

In advance, many thanks

Tools options view uncheck picture placeholders.
If you are pasting from the web, use edit paste special.
