Default WD2003 - Compatibility Issues

I'm currently working in WD2003, but I notice the compatibility on many of my
documents is changing to custom with "Don't use HTML paragraph auto spacing"
checked. When I uncheck the box, the compatibility changes to 2003, but when
I save the document and check compatibility, it is AGAIN at custom with that
box again checked. These are newly created documents, either typed text or
pasting unformatted text, with my styles set for 12pt after.

Any suggestions why this keeps happening?

Thanks in advance )

In Tools | Options, Save tab, see if "Disable features introduced after" is
checked. If so, clear the option. Does that help?
