Antonio Cordeiro Filho Rio de Janeiro, Brasil Word can insert hyphens in text. First, you must have the proofing support for the language used in the text. If you're using a Portuguese version of Office, ensure that you installed the complete package. If it's an English version of Office, you'll have to buy the separate Proofing Tools package that includes spelling, grammar, and hyphenation for Portuguese and many other languages. When the proofing support is available, make sure it's turned on. In Word, go to Tools Language Hyphenation and be sure there is a check mark on "Automatically hyphenate document". Even when automatic hyphenation is not turned on, you can manually insert "conditional hyphens" in the text at the cursor by pressing Ctrl and the hyphen character together. A conditional hyphen will appear when it allows a word to break at the end of a line; when it isn't needed for that, it disappears. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
