When I select a group of text it does not automatically delete when I press
another key. Instead I have to press the backspace or delete key. I think I
have set this up by mistake, but am not sure. Does anyone know how to get
rid of it and change it back so that selected text is automatically deleted
when I continue typing?

On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Edit tab. Make sure that
"Typing replaces selection" is checked, and then click OK.
