First, in Word XP, go under Tools Templates and Add-Ins and make sure that
the option to update styles is _not_ checked. This should _never_ be checked permanently. It is a document setting. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TextReflow.htm. Some things done in Word 2000 or later will open weird in Word 97. There is an option under Tools Options Save to save using only features available in Word 97. Tables in particular can be a problem. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
