Default Selecting multiple text boxes

Is there a way to select multiple text boxes without having to step through a
whole document, say with a Find or Select All type parameter or by running a
macro? I have a number of text boxes and want to be able to toggle them all
to be either in fron or behind the normal page text.

Thumbs up Answer: Selecting multiple text boxes

Yes, there is a way to select multiple text boxes in Microsoft Word without having to step through the whole document. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Click on the "Home" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on the "Select" dropdown arrow in the "Editing" group.
  3. Select "Select Objects" from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click and drag your mouse over all the text boxes you want to select. You'll see a blue box appear around each text box as you select them.
  5. Once you've selected all the text boxes you want to work with, you can then use the "Bring Forward" or "Send Backward" options in the "Arrange" group on the "Format" tab to move them in front of or behind other objects on the page.

Alternatively, you can also use the "Selection Pane" to select multiple text boxes. Here's how:
  6. Click on the "Home" tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.
  7. Click on the "Select" dropdown arrow in the "Editing" group.
  8. Select "Selection Pane" from the dropdown menu.
  9. The "Selection Pane" will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. It will show a list of all the objects on the page, including text boxes.
  10. Hold down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and click on each text box you want to select in the "Selection Pane".
  11. Once you've selected all the text boxes you want to work with, you can then use the "Bring Forward" or "Send Backward" options in the "Arrange" group on the "Format" tab to move them in front of or behind other objects on the page.

Yes, there is a way to select multiple text boxes in Microsoft Word without having to step through the whole document. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Click on the first text box that you want to select.
  2. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  3. Click on the last text box that you want to select.
  4. All the text boxes between the first and last one you clicked on should now be selected.

Once you have selected the text boxes, you can then toggle them to be either in front or behind the normal page text by following these steps:
  1. Right-click on one of the selected text boxes.
  2. Hover over the "Wrap Text" option.
  3. Click on either "Bring in Front of Text" or "Send Behind Text" depending on your preference.

This should apply the chosen option to all the selected text boxes at once. No need to run a macro or use the Find or Select All function.

Default Selecting multiple text boxes

Hi Gazzit,

How easy it is can depend on how selective you want to be in 'grabbing' them and if they are currently inline Layout or already in a
text wrapped (floating) layout choice.

If you're looking for text boxes that are already in a floating (not inline with text layout) you can add the 'Select Multiple
Objects' command to the drawing toolbar. Pre-Word 2007 turn on
View=Toolbars=Drawing

and then in
Tools=Customize=Commands
Drawing category
drag the 'Select Multiple Objects' command to the toolbar to place it with the regular 'select object' (white arrow) icon already
there.

Inline with text graphics/text boxes are seen by Word as being text, so the Select Multiple Objects tool doesn't "find" them. Using
a macro would probably be the easiest way to find and move inline shapes to change them to a different wrapping layout.

Default Selecting multiple text boxes

For TExt Boxes and all objects floating (ie not set with the InLineWithText)
the you can use the Select Multiple Objects (the icon is found on the Drawing
Toolbar
under Customize). The dialog will allow multiple selection for these objects
in the document but the nomenclature is not obvious so care should be taken .
Hope this helps
