I want to keep the Home Office Student 2007 version. Kinda grown to like it.
But if I don't PAY for the version, what will happen? Will I just LOSE

If you do not pay for it, then the software will go into Reduced
Functionality Mode at the end of the trial period, which means that you
can use Office 2007 to open, view, and print existing Office 2007 files,
but you cannot create new Office 2007 files or modify existing Office
2007 files. You cannot reinstall the trial software to extend the trial
period. See http://us20.trymicrosoftoffice.com/faq.aspx for more
information.

Why does it suck? It's like trying an outfit on. If you like it, you buy it.
If you needed Office, you should have explained that to the salesperson. I'm
sure they would have explained that it was not included and would cost
extra.

JoAnn,

I wasn't aware it was a TRAIL version until the comuter came. I purchased it
from HSN on TV. It was a put-together package. When they explained it all
they failed to mention the TRIAL period. It's no biggie problem, I'll just
pay for it. It's only my 2nd computer purchase in 8 years, and my first, also
a Gateway, had everything on it, already. Not thru HSN but thru Gateway
direct.

Thanks for the response. Glad to know there really is help out there for
people like me.

Happy Saturday!

Most new "off the rack" computers come with the trial version. Personally, I
tell my friends and relatives to dump it as soon as they get the system set
up. I don't even want then to fire it up one time. Trial software is usually
more hassle than it's worth.

*IF* you decide to buy Office, figure out which is the right edition for
your needs (Home and Student may not be depending on what you will be doing
with your new computer), back up all of your work files (to be on the safe
side), uninstall the trial version, install the full version. Believe me,
it's the best way to do it.

My Saturday will be much happier in about a half hour. :-)

If you do decided to buy it, I would strongly recommend that you purchase a
boxed retail version (either in a bricks-and-mortar store or through an
online or mail order vendor). If you use any of the electronic versions
(paying for the license key or ordering a download version), you will wind
up with no physical media (CDs or DVDs), which can prove awkward if you need
to reinstall down the line.

Is Office 2007 trial available for Non US residents?

I'm having problems downloading Home & Student Edition trial version. During
the process of downloading trial Office 2007 one has to enter personal
information on "Your information" form. On that form only United States is
available as selection for Country field. But regardless of the entered
information, outcome when submitting this form is always the same, page is
redisplayed but with an error message:

"We are sorry, but we are unable to complete your request.
The following problem(s) exist:

We are sorry, we are unable to complete your request. You are attempting to
submit an order without any items in your shopping cart. Please try again."

I've tried emailing support, their answers were that I have to clean-up
cookies and that I should access this trials download page from Microsoft
page localized for my country (Serbia), all of which I did and it didn't
help. My impressions are that support didn't even bother to read my
questions, I strongly believe that if they tried to go through trials
download procedure they would have encountered same error.

So long as you actually have the CD(s), you should be okay. Just make sure
you keep a good record of the license key.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a family emergency and that your daughter
isn't well. I'm sending good thoughts your way.

I'm glad to hear that you did get a backup copy of the CD. Depending on what
you actually have, there are different versions of the trial, in some
scenarios if you didn't opt to obtain the installation media at the time of
purchase you can't get it at a later date. And like Suzanne said, hang on to
your Product Key!

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email cannot be acknowledged.
