Default Adding styles to Quick Style Sets

I have several templates that I want to copy styles from into one Quick Style
Set. When I got to Manage Styles, and then Import/Export, I select one of my
templates and begin copying styles from it into the new, blank doc. I then
click on Change Styles and save the new styles to a new Quick Style Set. All
looks fine. However, when I close and open a new, blank doc and select my
newly-created Quick Style Set to use, only ONE of the styles I previously
imported displays (along with the other built-in styles).

Soo ... does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!!

I'm assuming you are referring to the Quick Style gallery on the Home tab in
the Styles group. Try the following and, if it works, save the Quick Style
set again

1. To appear in the Quick Style gallery on the Home tab, a style must be
included in the Quick Style list
2. The Add to Quick Style list check box in the Modify Style dialog box (or
the Create New Style from Formatting dialog box) must be checked for that
style so that it is included in the Quick Style list
3. The order of appearance in the Quick Style gallery on the Home tab of a
style that is included in the Quick Style list (and is not hidden until used)
is determined solely by the priority value assigned to the style
4. If more than one style has the same priority value, the styles with the
same priority value will be sorted alphabetically in the Quick Style gallery;
to get the order you want, you may need to change the priority value of a
style
5. To change the priority value of a style, do the following:
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click the Styles Dialog Box Launcher
to display the Styles task pane
Click the Manage Styles button (3rd from left) to display the Manage Styles
dialog box
Click the Recommend tab
Select the style
Click Assign Value
Use the spinner to set the value
Click OK

Default Adding styles to Quick Style Sets

Excellent information! My problem was that I didn't have the "Add to Quick
Style List" option checked for my styles.

Thanks so much!

Default Adding styles to Quick Style Sets

I'm having a similar problem, but the solution doesn't fit.

My Heading 1 does not appear in my Quick Style Gallery even though I've
added it. When I open my Styles List, the drop-down under Heading 1 has the
option to "Remove from Quick Style" so I know I've added it.

Additionally, I double-checked to ensure that I had the "Add to Quick Style
List" option checked for this style and I do. I'm really beating my head
against the wall on this one.
