mysterious temp files
one of my clients has some word temp files slowly populating one of his
directories, and i can't seem to easily find any documentation as to why this is happening. i'm thinking maybe its because of some autosave feature, but if someone has a suggestion on how i can deactivate it short of doing a word data registry key hack, that would be much appreciated... thanks! word 2003 |

Usually temp files are left behind when Word crashes (see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm, which also discusses what to do about them). Sometimes Word just loses track of them and abandons them. Infrequently, the folder -- usually on a network -- is set with access rights that don't allow Word to delete them. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |
