Modify style to automatically bold first word in paragraph
Someone sent me a document which had a user defined list-number style that
would automatically bold the first word in the paragraph (i.e., when starting a new paragraph in this style, the first word would be in bold, and then the bold would turn itself off after you typed a space). I would like to apply this magic to my List Number styles. How would I do that? |

I think the magic lies in the AutoFormat As You Type option to "Format
beginning of list item like the one before it." -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://word.mvps.org "izzy" wrote in message ... Modify style to automatically bold first word in paragraph
I'm trying to figure out how he did it to begin with. I just learned how to
start using styles, and I have my own long technical document with my List Number styles just the way I want them. But I'd like to add this magic functionality that I saw in this other document. Modify style to automatically bold first word in paragraph
When I go to the "Reveal Formatting" box for this particular style, the
Paragraph Style has references to "pseudocode" and "Program Description Language". I'm assuming this has something to do with enabling the behavior I described below. Can someone explain what these are? Thanks. "izzy" wrote: I'm trying to figure out how he did it to begin with. Suzanne has given you precisely the answer you need. The "pseudocode" and
"Program Description Language" things you're seeing have nothing to do with it. If you'll tell us which version of Word you're using, we can tell you where to enable the feature you're looking for. On the chance that you're using Word 2003, choose Tools - AutoCorrect Options - AutoFormat As You Type tab. Under Autotmatically as you Type, click to enable Format beginning of list item like theone before it. If you're using Word 2007, click the Office button, Word Options, Proofing tab, AutoCorrect Options - AutoFormat As You Type tab, etc. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "izzy" wrote in message ...
