What are (advantages/disadvantages) between Template & Form use?
I am trying to decide If I should use a Template or a Form for a document
that needs to be used by multiple people to enter in information in response to questions. I have been using a Form, but when I have it password protected (locked) spell check is not available for the form entries. I would like to lock the form so that it cannot be changed, but I would like to make the fields able to be spell checked. Any suggestions? |

What are (advantages/disadvantages) between Template & Form use?
From the spelling.grammar FAQ:
4. How can I spell-check protected forms http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Macros...ProtectDoc.htm So, if that is your only problem, you can solve it. Generally, forms should be based on templates. A template is a pattern document (basically) which can be a protected form. You create a new document based on the template using File New or by double-clicking on the template. This avoids the problem of people making changes and overwriting your basic template. For more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file new dialog, and locations of templates folders see http://addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm. What you are talking about as a form is what Word calls an "online form." Check this in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...nTheBlanks.htm especially Dian Chapman's series of articles.
