Default Citation Problem with year only

Can anybody give me hint how I can get a sitation with only the year in
indicated?
(e.g. "As Smith (1992) pubished ...").
I always recieve the citation with a "," so it looks like "As Smith (, 1992)
published". Any idea how to get the comma out of the field?

Thanks

I feel like you're not sharing all necessary information with us: how
exactly do you cite, using what mechanism of Word (in what version) or
which external tool?
