Default How to print two booklets per page?

This is the first time I've posted to this group, so let me say a warm,
"Hi folks!" to all.

I'm hoping there is a kind (and knowledgable) soul here who can help me
with this problem. I'm ashamed to say how much time I've spent trying
to obtain the answer through trial and error and Google searches.

How would I print two booklets per sheet in portrait mode on 8.5" x 11"
paper? For example, an 8 page booklet would have pages 8 and 1, in
portrait mode, on the top half of the first sheet as well as the same
pages on the bottom half. The next sheet would have pages 6 and 3 in
the same format. After printing the pages on the flip side, folding the
8.5" side in half and then cutting the 11" height at the halfway mark
to separate the two copies, you would end up with two booklets of 4.25"
wide by 5.5" high.

I don't believe the software I'm using--MS Word 2003--will print a
booklet in portrait mode at all. MS Publisher 2003 can do this, but I
am unable to export the Word file without losing all the original
formatting.

I have no problem obtaining additional software if it would solve the
problem or make this process easier.

Any suggestions??

Thx! - Mike
