SOLVED: Struggling with User Fill-in field - please help!
I'm using MS Office 2007.
OK. Here's what I am trying to do: I want to create a template that contains user fill-in fields so that when you create a new document from the template it prompts you to fill in the fill-in fields, which are then displayed in the document. That's not the part I'm struggling with - I can do that! Now here's the problem: I want the content of the fill-in field to be displayed in two places. In other words, I want to prompt the user once and then have the user's input displayed in two places on the document (once on the title page and once in the header, for example). All I have managed to do so far is create a fill-in field for every one place that the data is displayed. So how can I "link" to a fill-in field from another field in the document? Is there a list of available fields somewhere that I can get access to? If you're not sure what I want to do, I can upload an example of the template so you can get a better idea. Thanks in Advance! No worries!
I did a little bit of lateral thinking and I've managed to solve it by using a default field value, then I bookmark the field, then I can insert a reference to the bookmark. |

You can nest your FILLIN field within a SET field to create a bookmark for
the text inserted via the field. Then use REF fields to insert the contents of that bookmark at the appropriate locations of your text. See item 6 ("User Prompts") in the article at http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Repeating_Data.htm. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "mlse" .uk wrote in message ... I'm using MS Office 2007. OK. I was having a few problems getting my references to automatically update, but your solution will fix that I think. |
