Maintaining paper source when using different printers
We are working in a networked environment where multiple employees use
a MS Word file. These employees use different printers at their respective locations (HP Laserjet 4050n, HP Laserjet 4300 & HP Laserjet 2430). MS Word will (according to KB Article 918893) acquire the paper settings from the printer driver whenever someone opens the file. All of the printers are loaded with Letterhead paper and are coded as such on the printers. However, each time someone opens the file after someone using a different printer, the paper source will be something other than Letterhead. Does anyone have a workaround for this. The answers in the knowledge base don't work for this specific problem. Macros give the Letterhead option a specific value (which is a different number depending upon the printer driver being used) which is the root of this problem. I'm not sure why HP and/or MS didn't think to always use the same value for paper types on different printers. |
