Default Need "Speech"

Do you need Speech Recognition software that will allow your son to dictate
into Word or do you want the computer to be able to speak the written words
to your son?

If it is the former, then you need something like Dragon Naturally Speaking
or ViaVoice. Both work best with a good microphone, so don't skimp on that
part: a quality digital USB microphone would be best and if he will use this
in a noisy environment, get one with noise cancelling option.

If you only need the computer to speak back the text, then Windows XP is
already able to do this.
