Hi,

I'm using Word 2000 and think I don't have all my insert caption options. I
can't select which caption label I want (e.g., figure, table). Instead, they
are all inserted as "Exhibit". I can toggle field codes and change to Figure,
so that label will show up for cross referencing. I know I shouldn't have to
do this, though. In Word 2000 help, it reads as though a window should come
up that allows me to select my label. Is that correct? I'm at a total loss
here and could really use some help.

When you use Insert/Caption a dialog box comes up?

And in that dialog box is there a dropdown list "Label"? Is there anything in
that list besides "Exhibit"?

Can you click "New Label" and add things to that (such as "Figure")? Once you
do, is that available from the "Label" list?

Note: Caption labels are stored in your Normal.dot template. Theoretically, if
you rename Normal.dot to NormalOLD.dot, then start Word, all the default labels
should reappear. But you'd lose any customizations you have in Normal.dot. Some
of these can be copied to the new Normal.dot via Tools/Template and
Addins/Organizer.
