Default printed page numbers don't agree with those on screen

Documents generated by others include page numbers of the form "# of X",
where # is the number of the current page and X is the number of the last
page. The page numbers are in the footer and display correctly on the screen.
However, when pinted each page reads "# of #". Where the last figure should
be the number of the last page, the number of the current page prints
instead. The numbers on the screen do not change from the correct ones.

Example:
Display with correct formatting 3 of 29, 4 of 29, etc
Prints as 3 of 3, 4 of 4, etc
