counting for a sum w/ multiple criteria
In an excel worksheet I am trying to get a formula to return a numeric value
for the following instance Column c Column L 1/5/2006 QB I need a formula that will count every time a row has these two criteria. Any help would be appreciated -- Message posted via OfficeKB.com http://www.officekb.com/Uwe/Forums.a...merge/200512/1 |

You should ask in an Excel newsgroup, but you need to set up an
If..then..else formula -- Hope this helps. Please reply to the newsgroup unless you wish to avail yourself of my services on a paid consulting basis. counting for a sum w/ multiple criteria
Hi Michelle,
Try: =SUM(IF((C1:C100=DATEVALUE("1/5/2006"))*(L1:L100="QB"),1,)) entered as an array formula (i.e. press Ctrl-Shift-Enter, instead of just enter). The formula will then show up as: {=SUM(IF((C1:C100=DATEVALUE("1/5/2006"))*(L1:L100="QB"),1,))} Adjust your range references to suit and, if the test date & string are in cells, you can refer to them directly, as in: =SUM(IF((C1:C100=A1)*(L1:L100=A2),1,)) substituting A1 & A2 for the actual references.
