In word there is an unwanted (wider that that chosen in page setup) right
margin. I want to view the settings in page setup, but cannot determine why
this unwanted margin is present. The horizontal ruler does not extend to
the right edge of the page and may be part of the problem, please help.

Your document probably contains tracked changes and/or comments.
Either:
1. Accept all tracked changes and delete all comments (see

and

for more information), or
2. Switch to Final view on the Reviewing toolbar, which hides
the tracked changes and comments, but does not remove them from
the document.
